Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

Considering plastic surgery in Mexico goes far beyond wanting to change your appearance. It is about listening to yourself, respecting what matters to you, and giving yourself the right to choose, together with the medical team, what could help you feel more in harmony with your body and the person you have become.

YOUR BODY. YOUR JOURNEY. YOUR DECISION.

What if this project was simply a way of choosing yourself?

  • You have experienced significant weight loss and now wish to continue your transformation
  • Pregnancy, weight loss, or the passage of time have left changes with which you no longer feel entirely in harmony
  • Certain excess skin, discomforts, complexes, or physical changes influence your confidence, your comfort, your clothing, or certain daily activities
  • You love yourself today, but you also give yourself the right to want certain changes because they are important to you

Younger bodies and more mature bodies. Bodies that have carried children. Bodies transformed by significant weight loss. Men’s bodies and women’s bodies. Scars, curves, loose skin, and different stories.

Because the people considering plastic or reconstructive surgery are not all the same… and neither are their journeys.

Your body changes. What matters to you does too.

Plastic or reconstructive surgery does not necessarily begin with wanting to become someone else or because you do not love your body.
After significant weight loss, pregnancy, previous surgeries, or simply the changes that come with time, certain parts of your body may no longer feel quite in harmony with how you see yourself today.
Some changes can also cause physical discomfort, affect the way you dress or move, or simply influence how you feel in your everyday life.
Choosing to explore surgery can therefore be a deeply personal decision. You can love and respect your body while still giving yourself permission to want certain changes for yourself.
The goal is not perfection or meeting other people’s expectations. It is about understanding what is possible, having realistic expectations, and making a decision that feels right for you.
Because choosing yourself also means listening to yourself and giving yourself permission to decide what is right for you.

A journey that reflects who you are

Your motivations, priorities, and expectations are personal. The goal is to understand what you would like to improve and why it matters to you, without judgment and without trying to fit an ideal.

A procedure tailored to you

Your anatomy, health, previous surgeries, and goals are considered by the surgeon in order to evaluate the options that may be appropriate for your situation and the risk factors that need to be taken into account.

Being well prepared

Understanding the procedures being considered, the scars, risks, recovery, and possible outcomes allows you to move forward with realistic expectations and the information you need to make your decision.

Support beyond surgery

Your journey does not end with surgery. Recovery takes time, patience, and sometimes adjustments along the way. Our team remains present throughout your stay and after you return home to support you through the different stages of your journey.

A journey tailored to your story and your priorities

Two people may want to improve the same area of their body without necessarily needing the same approach.
Significant weight loss, pregnancy, previous surgeries, the quality and amount of skin, the distribution of volume, your anatomy, and your health can make your situation very different from someone else’s.
Your priorities matter as well. For some, it may be the abdomen. For others, the breasts, arms, thighs, or face. Some people want to focus on a single area, while others may consider their journey in several stages.
You do not need to come to us already knowing exactly which surgery to ask for.
Your starting point is you.
You tell us what you would like to improve and what matters to you. The surgeon can then evaluate your situation and discuss the options that may be considered.

01

After weight loss or pregnancy

01
Your body has changed significantly, and certain areas may no longer feel quite in harmony with how you see yourself today. Excess skin, abdominal laxity, or changes to the breasts, arms, thighs, or back: your journey may involve one area or several.

02

A personal aesthetic goal

02
You do not need to have experienced weight loss or pregnancy to want a change. Your breasts, body contour, face, or another area of your body: your journey can simply begin with something you would like to change for yourself.

03

A journey that can evolve in several stages

03
When several areas are a concern, everything does not necessarily need to be done in a single procedure. Depending on your priorities, your health, and the surgeon’s evaluation, your journey may sometimes be planned in different stages and evolve with you.

Possible procedures

Every body tells a different story.

You do not need to know the exact name of the procedure that may be right for you. You can simply tell us what you would like to improve. Your situation, goals, and health can then be evaluated by the surgeon to determine which options may be considered.

Don’t see the procedure you are looking for? Tell us what you would like to improve.

Restoring proportions that feel right for you

The abdomen, arms, thighs, or other areas of the body may have excess skin, laxity, or localized fat deposits. After significant weight loss, these changes can also cause discomfort, make it more difficult to find clothing that fits comfortably, or simply no longer reflect how you see yourself today..

Depending on your situation, different procedures may be considered:

Abdominoplasty

This procedure can remove excess skin from the abdomen and reshape the area. Depending on your situation, other anatomical factors may also be evaluated by the surgeon.

Fleur-de-lis abdominoplasty
This procedure may be considered when significant excess skin is present in multiple directions, particularly after substantial weight loss. It involves a vertical scar in addition to the horizontal scar.

360° body lift
This procedure may be considered when correction is needed around the entire trunk. Depending on the surgical plan, it may address the abdomen as well as certain areas along the sides and back of the body.

Arm lift
This procedure aims to remove excess skin and reshape the upper arms. The location and length of the scars vary depending on the amount and location of the excess skin.

Thigh lift
This procedure may be considered when loose skin is present on the thighs. The technique used and the resulting scars depend on the person’s anatomy and the extent of the skin laxity.

Liposuction
Liposuction can remove localized fat deposits to reshape specific areas of the body. However, it is not intended as a substitute for weight loss and may not always be appropriate when significant excess skin is present.

Mons reshaping or lift
After weight loss or certain abdominal changes, the mons pubis may also have excess skin, laxity, or volume that is a concern for the person. This area can be considered as part of the overall evaluation of the surgical plan.

An approach tailored to your anatomy and your goals

The breasts can change with pregnancy, breastfeeding, significant weight loss, weight fluctuations, or simply over time. Some people want to restore volume, while others may wish to reduce the size of their breasts or address sagging.

Breast lift
A breast lift aims to reshape and reposition breasts affected by sagging. A breast lift does not necessarily involve the use of implants.

Breast augmentation
Breast augmentation may be considered when someone wishes to increase or restore breast volume. The choice of approach, desired volume and, when indicated, implants is part of the surgical planning process with the surgeon..

Breast lift with implants
In some situations, a breast lift may be combined with augmentation to address both sagging and breast volume.

Breast reduction
Breast reduction may be considered to reduce breast volume and reshape the breasts when their size is an aesthetic or functional concern for the person.

Gynecomastia / male breast surgery
Different approaches may be considered for men when excess tissue, fat, or skin is present in the chest area. After significant weight loss, excess skin may also influence the type of procedure required.

Because your face changes too

Changes related to aging, genetics, or significant weight loss can affect the volume, skin, and contours of the face and neck. For some people, the reflection they see in the mirror simply no longer quite matches how they feel. The goal of facial surgery is not necessarily to change your features, but rather to evaluate what could be done based on what you would like to improve.
Facelift
A facelift can address certain signs of facial laxity and help redefine facial contours. Different techniques are available, and the surgical plan depends in particular on your anatomy and goals..

Neck lift
A neck lift may be considered when loose skin or changes in the neck and jawline are a concern.

Blepharoplasty
Eyelid surgery may involve the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both, depending on the situation and the factors evaluated by the surgeon.

Combined face and neck procedures
Certain procedures may be combined when a more comprehensive approach is being considered. The appropriateness and safety of any combination must be evaluated individually by the surgeon.

Before booking, better understand your situation

At Voyages Renaissance, we have chosen to begin your journey before the official booking of your trip. For us, it is important that you have a more complete picture of your situation and any identified risk factors before committing to your project.

The analysis begins with a virtual meeting with an independent nurse who is a member of the collaborating medical team. Together, you will complete the necessary questionnaires, and the nurse will collect relevant information about your health, medical and surgical history, medications, lifestyle habits, and certain factors that may influence the risks associated with your project.

A requisition for blood tests and, when required, certain additional examinations is also provided so that the results can be included among the information considered in the analysis of your file.

The independent medical team therefore has several elements available to evaluate your situation, including your health and risk-factor questionnaires, blood test results and, when required, the results of additional examinations, your medical history, medications, previous surgeries, photos, as well as the procedures you are considering and your expectations. Depending on your situation, additional information or examinations may also be requested.

Based on the available information, the independent medical team analyzes your file and the risk factors relevant to your project. You then receive a report outlining the identified elements, medical recommendations and, when applicable, any conditions, optimizations, or additional examinations that may be recommended before moving forward.

This step takes place before the official booking of your trip. It therefore allows you to have more information in hand before booking time off and beginning the practical organization of your stay.

Because a surgical journey should not begin with “book your trip and we’ll figure it out once you get there.

We understand everything a project like this involves: coordinating work and family responsibilities, taking time off, planning your budget, preparing physically and emotionally, and sometimes waiting for this moment for several months.

We therefore prefer that any known factors that can be evaluated at this stage be reviewed as early as possible, so that you can move forward with a better understanding of your situation and make a more informed decision.

Our role at Voyages Renaissance is to coordinate this process, help you understand the different steps, and support you throughout your journey without replacing the medical team.

You might be wondering…

Yes, in certain situations. In fact, it is common for people who contact us after significant weight loss to have several areas they would eventually like to address.

However, this does not mean that all the procedures you are considering should or can be performed during the same surgery. The length of the procedure, your health, risk factors, the areas being treated, and the recovery required are all factors the surgeon must consider.

When several procedures are being considered, the surgeon can evaluate which ones can reasonably be combined and, when necessary, recommend completing your surgical plan in different stages.

You can therefore tell us about everything you would eventually like to improve, even if your surgical plan ultimately needs to be completed in several stages.

At Voyages Renaissance, we have chosen to begin your journey before the official booking of your trip.

Your file is first prepared and sent to the independent medical team so that an analysis of the risk factors can be completed. You then receive a report outlining the elements evaluated and the recommendations applicable to your situation.

This step allows you to better understand what may be possible, the factors to consider, and the budget associated with your project before deciding whether you wish to book your trip.

Our goal is simple: to give you as much information as possible before you make such an important decision.

Your project is evaluated by the independent surgeon responsible for your procedure.

Your photos, medical history, previous surgeries, goals, and the relevant information in your file allow the surgeon to evaluate the options that may be considered.

You will also have the opportunity to speak with your surgeon during the consultations included in your journey, so that you can ask your medical questions directly to the healthcare professional responsible for your care.

Voyages Renaissance facilitates these communications and coordinates the different steps, but all medical evaluations, recommendations, and decisions remain the responsibility of the independent healthcare professionals.

Every surgery involves risks. Our approach is therefore not to promise that everything will go perfectly, but to help you be better prepared before your departure.

This includes the advance analysis of risk factors by the independent medical team, preparation for your trip and your return home, information about insurance designed for medical tourism, your emergency plan, and your instructions in the event of an exceptional situation.

The environment also matters: having your procedure performed in a hospital with access to a range of medical resources, staying at a hotel located directly across from the hospital, and having scheduled follow-ups during your stay, according to your journey.

We cannot anticipate every situation. We can, however, take preparation seriously and help you plan for the unexpected before it happens.

A surgical journey abroad represents a significant investment, and some people prefer to plan for it over several months or use a financing option.

Financing options through external providers may be available, allowing you to explore different payment arrangements. You can also use a payment calculator to get a better idea of the monthly payments your project could represent.

We also discuss insurance options designed for medical tourism, so that you can learn about the available coverage and its conditions before your departure.

Financing and insurance products are offered by independent companies and remain subject to their own eligibility criteria, terms, exclusions, and approval processes.

Choosing to have plastic or reconstructive surgery abroad requires much more than booking a procedure and a plane ticket. It is a personal journey that comes with questions, expectations, and sometimes concerns. You need to know where to go, who to trust, how to prepare, and above all, know that someone will be there to support you when you need it.
At Voyages Renaissance, we take the time to understand your story, your priorities, and what matters most to you. We help prepare and organize your stay with you and remain present throughout the different stages of your journey: before your departure, during your stay in Mérida, and after your return home to Canada.
Our role is to help you arrive better prepared, understand how each step of the process unfolds, and know who to turn to along the way. You remain at the center of your project and the decisions that come with it.
Because behind every file is a person who is entrusting us with an important step in their life. We receive that trust with genuine care and with the responsibility it deserves.

  • « I had an extraordinary experience with the Voyages Renaissance team. I followed Andrée-Anne from the very beginning of her reconstruction journey. When Voyages Renaissance was founded and I discovered the surgeons they work with, I knew I wanted to entrust them with my project. From the very first meeting through the follow-up before and after my trip, I found the support exceptional. Everything was clear, well explained, and I felt reassured and cared for. Whether sharing laughter together or listening during more difficult moments, the team was always there. I thank them from the bottom of my heart for this experience, and I am already looking forward to taking the next step with them. »

  • « I travelled from Quebec on my own, but I never felt alone throughout my journey. I turned to Voyages Renaissance for facial surgery, and a few months after my procedure, I am very happy with my results. Travelling alone was a little stressful, but I felt supported and surrounded throughout the entire process. I especially remember the moments before my surgery: I was very stressed and emotional, and Andrée-Anne was there with me. Her listening ear and presence truly reassured me. When I woke up, Yoan was also there to bring me what I needed and make sure I was comfortable. As the days went by, I began to see my results emerge, and today I am truly happy with my new appearance. Thank you to the entire team for your support. I would recommend you without hesitation ! »

Results That Continue to Evolve Over Time

The photos presented in this gallery are examples of results achieved by some of our clients as well as patients of Dr. Medina and do not guarantee any particular outcome.

For most of the photos presented, the “after” images were taken only a few days or weeks after the procedure during follow-up appointments. They therefore show a stage of recovery rather than the final result. After plastic or reconstructive surgery, the body continues to change: swelling decreases, tissues settle, and scars gradually improve. Depending on the procedure, the final result generally continues to evolve over several months and, in some situations, may take up to 12 to 18 months before it can be fully appreciated.

Every person is unique. The outcome of a procedure depends in part on anatomy, tissue and skin quality, healing, the procedure performed, overall health, and the body’s individual response.

These photos help illustrate possibilities but cannot predict the result another person may achieve.
